Welcome to Dazzleby Foxhounds. This is the website for people who love foxhounds. The site is dedicated to the memory of Dazzle, my wonderful Foxhound who won a PRO DOGS GOLD MEDAL in 1993, after overcoming the amputation of a leg and becoming a winning obedience and agility hound. She also served as a PATdog for many years, visiting the sick and elderly on a weekly basis.
My foxhounds are my family and, I have raised 47 Foxhound puppies so far, over very many years. This latest litter has been bred specifically for pet and show, but will excel in other spheres too. For people who want some colour in their lives, and have an affinity for dogs, a foxhound will be a most rewarding companion.

Foxhounds have been bred for hundreds of years specifically for their ability to hunt - not for their suitablility as family pets! This makes them the most challenging breed of canine there is and definitely not suitable for the novice dog owner.
The ideal owner (as rare as the domesticated Foxhound) is a particularly energetic and tolerant person with plenty of time on their hands, and also a large securely fenced garden. Immaculate home and gardens, or households with small children or elderly people are definitely not the environment for the Foxhound.
Training Classes are a must for the foxhound, they need the mental challenge, as well as the socialisation. Off lead exercise is important for their well-being, but needs to be carried out in a secure area. Being a social animal the Foxhound does need canine company preferably a well mannered obedient friend, preferably not another hound as two are definitely a pack!
Foxhounds are large and very lively, and their antics and enthusiasm have to be experienced to be believed but at the same time are a loyal and loving friend, who after their busy day like nothing beter than stretching out on the sofa in front of the fire.
It is possible that sometime in the future puppies may be available to thoroughly vetted homes.
If you would like a Foxhound but are unable to get one, why not consider their cousin the Trail hound. Smaller and lighter in build they are very much the same in character, just as much fun. The Trail Hound Trust operate completely unfunded, and have rehomed over 400 hounds, they get other types of hound too. Have a look at them The Trail Hound Trust
PAT dogs too are worth a look, Foxhounds and Trailhounds, make very good visiting dogs, very rewarding for all concerned.
